As has been for some time, there is a typical profile of boats stolen from the Bahamas. U.S. vessels are particularly targeted.

Profile:
- 26 to 39 in length
- Powered by one or more late model Yamaha outboards

- Center console/express fish style layout

These boats are used for one or two drug delivery runs and then discarded. If recovered they are in rough shape. Many times the outboards are removed along with all electronics but not always. The primary use for these boats is to ferry drugs from Haitian freighters to other island cache points. They are not normally stolen just to part out and chop up. Many are recovered intact but with shot up engines.

These vessels are targeted at marinas where third parties are involved in the theft. They know when the owners are gone and they know when the boats are full of fuel.

Be advised.
